Sunday night Angie and I sat down and watched a couple episodes of an HGTV show on their website.  Now I’d say it’s been over a year since I’ve seen HGTV anything since we don’t have cable.  What happened Monday was a whirlwind  for me.  Helped install rain gutters and take apart an old shed, replaced some living room furniture, installed a window treatment, washed the house, not the car, the house, cut the grass for a undecernable length of time with the only indication of how long it took being that I ran out of gas part way through.  I would have taken down some wallpaper too, but decided on a nap instead.

The influence of the shows had a huge motivational impact on me that day, but what if I had watched something else?  What if I’d watched some shows on video games?  What if I’d spend more time watching something that motivates me for God?

So I’ll put the question to you.  What are you letting influence you?

just some things that have gone through my mind here and there.

  • A quick fact… our ears continue to grow as we get older…  So if Adam and Methusela lived for several hundred years, I wonder how big their ears got?
  • I was pushing a shopping cart the other day (pulled to the left), and thought to myself… ” why can’t I just get one that just goes strait” and figured that could be a good comparison to the seasons of our life…  Rarely do we get one that goes nice and smooth, and just like we want.

well i guess there’s only three for now, the rest wondered off i guess.

I’m 6′ tall.  You need to know this as part of the set up.

So, I was watching a documentary on The Shroud of Turin on PBS a night or two ago.  Which, by the way, was incredible facinating.  To see the lengths that science has gone through to prove that it truely was or was not the shroud that they wrapped Jesus’ body in after his death and burial in the tomb was very interesting.  Most of there findings pointed at it actually being Jesus… ie. a crucified man, markings matching the cat of nine tails lacerations, blood marks from something pointy being jabbed into the mans head, holes in his wrists and feet, and so on.  One of the curious facts that stuck out to me was that from the shroud they deduce the man was 5’11”.  Now my mind wonders sometimes, and at this particular point it took a stroll.  My first thought was “huh, I’m taller than Jesus.” and as fast as a mind can fire it went on to my next thought.  I have died, gone to heaven, am standing in front of Jesus, mouth hanging open in awe, and these words come out of my mouth…

“I thought you’d be taller.”

(reality starting to come back) “Wow, what did I just say”…

At this point my lunacy gave way to lucidity, and I laughed at the obsurdity of the statement that I had just made to the King of Kings.  I am a goober, and probably will be till the end of my days.  But I can tell you this, at the end, if I am anywhere near capabable of coherent speach in my awe struck state, those deifnately won’t be the words coming out of my mouth.

Hopefully my tell has brought a chuckle or two to your belly, or at the minimum a giggle.  Till next time.

Isaac had a pretty big week last week.  Finally got a haircut.  The third of his life… well fourth if you count the one we did at home before taking him to a professional the next week.  He also had surgery this past Friday.  It was outpatient, and he’s doing great, minus stitches and some bruises.  Thank you to everyone that had him in his prayers.

So, here are some pics from his eventful week.

Well it’s been awhile, and I need to get back in the rhythm of blogging every week.  So here is my first installment for the year on a great day, which happens to be my birthday! Woot!  Right, well enough excitement, moving on.  I wanted to post these pics when I got them…. fast-forward to today…. I have so great pics from our last Helping Hands project.  We were able to get out and help Donna Jones for a couple of hours.  Add rain, freezers, and a chainsaw and it turned out to be a pretty eventful day.

only 25 slots are open.  we need to fill them all with definate attenders.  will roll out of the church at 730.  please, please, please help.

I got to looking at some of the pictures from events this past year and thought I’d share the stroll down memory lane.
